DRUG$, a Documentary

Have you ever wondered why the cost of prescription medication is so high? According to a new feature-length documentary produced by Foxhound Productions and the Los Angeles-based AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), US drug prices can reach $1,000 per pill or more, forcing many patients to choose between life-saving medicine or putting food on the table for their families. DRUG$ couldn’t come at a better time, as more than 40 states have pharma-related legislation either pending or recently signed into law.

About the Film

DRUG$ demystifies the drug pricing system through interviews with patients, policymakers, former pharmaceutical representatives, insurance companies, scientists, doctors, and economists. The film shows how misguided legislation has valued drug patents over human lives, and how companies effectively block competition and thrive as monopolies. If you’ve ever wondered where the profits go or what the American public can do to take action, this film is for you.

Foxhound Productions specializes in commercial and narrative storytelling. In 2018, Director Jonathan Marshall Thompson won the LA Short for “Words Left Unsaid.” You may recognize the voice narration by JK Simmons who won an Academy Award for his supporting role in Whiplash (2014); roles in La La Land, Juno, and Spider-Man (2002) and the critically acclaimed STARZ series, Counterpart. Other notable personalities appear in the film, including Senator Bernie Sanders and Congressman Elijah Cummings.
